3D Modeling Maps and Buildings
Course Coverage
This course provides students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in 3D modeling for creating detailed maps and building structures, with applications in aviation, urban planning, and geospatial technologies. The curriculum covers 3D modeling software (e.g., Autodesk Revit, Blender, ArcGIS), digital terrain modeling, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Students will learn techniques for creating accurate geospatial maps, visualizing architectural designs, and integrating 3D models with navigation and aviation systems. The course includes training in photogrammetry, laser scanning (LiDAR), and data visualization, as well as compliance with industry standards for geospatial and aviation applications. Practical projects and simulations allow students to develop 3D models for real-world scenarios, such as airport layouts and urban environments.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Create and manipulate 3D models of maps and buildings for aviation and urban planning applications;
- Apply geospatial data and modeling techniques to support navigation and infrastructure development;
- Pursue roles in 3D modeling, geospatial analysis, or BIM coordination, with pathways to advanced degree programs;
- Develop proficiency in software tools, data analysis, and visualization, fostering continuous self-directed learning;
- Analyze the impact of 3D modeling technologies on aviation, smart cities, and environmental planning at local, regional, and global levels;
- Integrate concepts from design, technology, and geospatial sciences into 3D modeling projects for aviation and urban applications.
Employment Prospects
Graduates of this course can pursue careers in roles related to 3D modeling and geospatial technologies, including 3D modeler, geospatial analyst, BIM coordinator, urban planner, and aviation mapping specialist. Employment opportunities exist in aviation authorities, urban planning agencies, architectural firms, geospatial technology companies, smart city initiatives, and logistics firms. Graduates will contribute to the development of 3D models for airport design, navigation systems, and urban infrastructure projects.
