Cybersecurity

ISC Squa Cert

Course Coverage

This course prepares students for the ISC2 CISSP-ISSAP (Information Systems Security Architecture Professional) certification, focusing on designing and implementing secure IT architectures with applications in aviation systems, such as drone operations, air traffic control networks, and airport infrastructure. The curriculum covers the six domains of the CISSP-ISSAP Common Body of Knowledge (CBK): Security Architecture Analysis, Communication and Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Operations Architecture, Infrastructure Security, and Software Development Security. Students will learn to design secure systems, conduct risk assessments, and integrate cybersecurity measures into complex environments. The course includes practical exercises in architecting secure drone navigation systems, aviation data networks, and compliance with aviation cybersecurity standards, such as those set by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department (CAD) and international bodies.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Design and analyze security architectures for aviation IT systems, including drone and navigation infrastructure;
  • Implement secure communication and network protocols to protect aviation systems from cyber threats;
  • Pursue roles as security architects or consultants in aviation cybersecurity, with pathways to advanced certifications like CISSP;
  • Develop expertise in risk management, identity access control, and secure software development, supporting lifelong professional growth;
  • Evaluate the impact of cybersecurity architectures on aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency at local and global levels;
  • Apply principles of security engineering and governance to aviation-related systems, ensuring resilience and compliance.

Employment Prospects

Graduates of this course can pursue careers in cybersecurity roles with a focus on security architecture, such as security architect, cybersecurity consultant, aviation IT security specialist, or network security engineer. Employment opportunities exist in aviation authorities, airlines, airport management organizations, drone technology companies, and cybersecurity consulting firms. Graduates will contribute to securing aviation infrastructure, including drone operations, air traffic control systems, and airport networks, supporting the safe integration of advanced technologies in the aviation industry.
